With the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships taking place from February 2 to 15, 2015 in Vail and Beaver Creek, this season is a perfect time for travelers to take advantage of the mounting energy and head to Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The Sonnenalp Hotel’s Ski Safari experience will begin in December, giving guests the opportunity to ski and ride some of Colorado’s top resorts in three days all while being guided by two of the world’s best skiers: Olympian Sarah Schleper and pro skier Chris Anthony.
The Ski Safari at the Sonnenalp Hotel includes: four nights lodging, three-day lift ticket, daily breakfast and transportation, ski guide for three days and two cocktail receptions for the group. Safari participants will hit the slopes at Vail and Beaver Creek and choose between Keystone and Breckenridge, depending on which resort offers the best ski conditions for the day.
The Ski Safari Package starts at $2,065 for single occupancy and $2,805 for double.
Additionally, the Sonnenalp will play host to the German ski team during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships. The German House, based in Sonnenalp’s Bully Ranch restaurant will serve as the central hub of activity and celebration for the team, including daily meals. Tables at the German House are available for hotel guests and the public each evening during the World Championships from 6 to 11pm at $175 per person. Highlights include a three-course Bavarian meal, drinks and live music in the company of the German ski team.
February 2015 will mark the third time in the area’s short history to hold this prestigious event, a competition second only to the Olympics for Alpine ski racing. Vail and Beaver Creek previously hosted the FIS Alpine World Championships in 1989 and 1999.
